The loop

One seeker, everyone else hides. Break line of sight to stay invisible, and stay off the plates that call the seeker in. Last one standing.

Breaking line of sight

You get crates to hide behind and a minute to survive. The cone does the hunting, and it only finds you if it can see you — so the skill isn’t running, it’s positioning. Break line of sight and you vanish from the game’s mind entirely.

But the floor is not neutral. Step on the wrong plate and you call the seeker straight to you. Nothing in the round is random; every close call was a decision someone made.
